Porcelain Tile for Bathroom Floors and Walls

Tile is frequently used in bathroom design on floors, shower floors, and shower walls. Porcelain tends to be the top material of choice for these spaces due to its high moisture and stain resistance. Porcelain is available in numerous colors, styles, and sizes, and also has the ability to be heated. Heated bathroom floor tile has become popular over the years—especially in Des Moines, Iowa with its cold, long winters!

Glass tiles can also be used in showers as an accent or decorative strip on the walls. Deco strips add dimension and detail to master showers and are often used as a contrasting tile in shower cubbies or shelving.

If you prefer a natural stone but want a top that’s creamier with less speckled detail, look no further than marble. Marble countertops, like the ever popular carrara marble and white marble, have been used for centuries in kitchens across the world. Although beautiful, the most important characteristic to note is that marble is a high maintenance stone. This stone is softer than granite so it can chip or scratch with improper use. Marble is also a porous surface, meaning it will absorb moisture and stain if not cared for properly. Marble is not heat resistant, so avoid using hot pots and pans directly on its surface.
